HAVI’s Response To COVID-19

Message from CEO Frank Ravndal: Leading Through the Crisis - And Beyond

Like many businesses that find themselves on the frontline of the COVID-19 crisis, HAVI operates globally. We serve customers in more than 100 countries, have a physical presence in more than 45 countries and employ approximately 10,000 people worldwide. Our teams around the world have responded with exemplary professionalism to the current situation, and we could not be prouder of their resilience and commitment in such difficult and volatile circumstances. They continue to Deliver the Promise day in day out, doing amazing things with patience and kindness.

The challenges we face as a global business are complicated by the fact that different markets are at different stages in their responses to the crisis. In some markets, restrictions have only started relatively recently while others have been dealing with weeks of shutdown. Elsewhere, the recovery phase is already underway. Despite the challenges involved, our top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of everyone associated with our company -- our people and the customers and suppliers with whom our teams interact with every day. With the interests of all these people in mind, we remain committed to complying with directives and guidance from the World Health Organization, local governments and health authorities.

The situation we face together is unprecedented – and no one can tell what the future will bring. It’s clear that this will test many businesses in the months ahead. That said, HAVI has always led its business with a long-term focus grounded in having strong business contingency planning in place in our operations and through our financial strength and stability. These strengths will serve us well as we move through the crisis to ensure we remain right there beside our customers so that, together, we can continue planning and preparing; assuring supply and safe handling of products; adapting inventories and deliveries to changes in demand; and adjusting to ramp back up as recovery begins.

For now, we would like to thank our loyal supplier network for partnering with us to ensure supply and adjust to changes in demand. We would also like to thank our customers for trusting us to protect their businesses. We are committed to taking active steps to support you through this crisis into recovery and beyond.

Best Regards,

Frank Ravndal, CEO, HAVI

Taking Action To Protect Employees, Customers, Suppliers

Supporting Our Employees

We are communicating intensively with employees about the importance of not coming into work if they exhibit any symptoms of illness; advising us immediately about any potential exposures to COVID-19; acting in line with local health directives on testing, treatment and returning to work after recovery.

In many markets, we have proactively encouraged employees to work from home in advance of local directives. Thanks to our cloud-first IT strategy, we are well-positioned to ensure ongoing system performance and have equipped employees with the software, hardware and training they need to work from home where possible, in line with local directives.

In areas where travel is still permitted by local authorities, we have asked all employees to refrain from business travel to any destination – unless it is deemed business-critical and receives leadership approval.

In line with local directives, we have implemented preventive measures in all offices and distribution centers that are still operating – from temperature checks and increased cleaning to handwashing and social distancing.

Supporting Our Customers

All HAVI’s offices and Distribution Centers continue to comply with all directives from local government.

We have activated HAVI’s global contingency measures to plan, monitor, and report daily through dedicated taskforce teams at country and enterprise level.

We have implemented business contingency plans for assured supply in all markets working closely with customer and supplier networks as we partner together on our response to this crisis.

We are reaching out to new partners, competitors and industry bodies to offer our food service logistics and cold chain expertise and to keep trucks on the road and transportation of critical food products moving.

Supporting Our Suppliers

Our supplier partners are also grappling with how to respond to the daily challenges of this new reality. In advance of the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis, we worked with suppliers to create capacity, build stocks of finished products and prioritize critical items. We are in constant dialog with our supplier partners as we focus on business continuity and contingency planning for our customers across dozens of markets.

Our supplier network has shown incredible resilience in responding to the changing environment and customer needs. Looking ahead, we are anticipating the needs of markets as they enter the recovery phase of the crisis.
