Chick-fil-A recently experienced such a quality issue with a direct-store delivery of products. The defect was detected at the restaurant level and noticed by restaurant employees. The issue was escalated to Chick-fil-A's procurement team who learned the product came from a large supplier.
The root cause was soon tracked to a defective ingredient shipment that fed into seven separate manufacturing sites, making it difficult for the supplier to trace and recall affected material. This led to an immediate search for an alternative solution for reducing the risk of any future quality disruptions.
